Today I wrote an email at work with the subject Two Weeks Notice. It was a a heads up about an event in two weeks, but my department head took it a different way at first. She said she nearly cried.
Someday I will have to break that news to her for real, but today... no. Funnily, no one else remarked upon it.
When you're a teacher, two weeks notice is more like 45 days notice. Or you get fined. At least in this district. Not only do you get fined, but even when you give notice they will charge you for days that you took off prior to giving notice going back so far. It's not an easy thing to up and leave in the middle of a contracted year.
I'm hoping that I can manage it all-the boot camp and teaching full-time-but I can't say that I'm confident. Quite the opposite, I'm afraid. I've worked up to working full-time over four years. My first year was part-time, then I was 3/4 time, then I was full-time but one of the classes was an online class, and this year I'm full-time, in-person.
I don't know.
I want to leave on a good note, not be the school drama in the middle of the year. That said, if it happens, it happens. We wouldn't be in a good place financially. I'd probably go get a part-time gig somewhere that doesn't burn so much soul power.
Less than a month til the madness ensues. I have to make time to study up on Figma and take a short course for my pre-course coursework (or whatever they call it). Already not doing so hot prioritizing my studies! Eesh!
