Have I had something to write these last couple weeks? Yes. Did I write it down? No.
I suppose the biggest doin's was the cruise to Mexico that took me away for over a week. I didn't really get excited until the week-of and thankfully I didn't get anxious much at all. It was our first cruise and we didn't really know if we'd like it. Turns out cruising is a viable vacay option for us now!
Flying into LAX a day early made things a little more laid back and we got a chance to do Universal Studios. We had never been, but our son was not interested in Disneyland for some reason. Has he been? No. Does he know much about it? No. Was he adamant? Yes. "It's just Diz-eh-knee."
My only concern going to Universal Studios was lines and sunscreen. What I should've been worried about was screens. The 3D Transformers ride was the second we went on and it worked me over. Nauseated and pale I kept up my cheer and we convinced my son to try The Mummy ride next. That just made things worse-even without the onslaught of screens. Most of the rides made me sick with the massive screens and simulated coaster movements. The one true roller coaster was ridiculously short but lovely and outside. Quite a relief.
Despite meltdowns at three of the rides ("I can't do it! I'm scared!") our son went on every ride with us. He had a great time and arguably an even better time on the cruise. Gosh, this kid's expectations are going to be sky high as he grows up... he already has that tendency. Dad gets him bacon on his cheese pizza once and now he expects bacon all the time, anywhere. Upgrade a Sprite to a Shirley Temple? Expectations altered forevermore. The list goes on. It's good that he's ambitious and knows what he wants. We haven't given him a reality check yet-he's 8! We just work on gratitude right now.
Anyways. The cruise. The ship was amazing and our suite was more comfy than expected. Heck, the bathroom was bigger than our en suite at home! Of course, being that I was not concerned about seasickness as my husband was, I was the one to get some sick feelings. Thankfully not awful, but enough that I ended up with the medication my husband had brought for himself "just in case."
The food was good and we barely had to dig into our "in case of boredom" stash of entertainment options! I didn't get to do everything I wanted on the ship, but I have no regrets and really enjoyed the trip.
Mentally and emotionally I was well and relaxed-even sleeping great throughout the trip.
I know I'm not the only one in the house that has wished to be back on the ship a few times since returning!
