After we came back from Winter Recess I told my principal and department head that I wanted to go part-time again. It felt like such a relief.
Now, just over a month later, it's happening.
The feelings are quite a mush. There is relief and excitement mostly and then a little tinge of regret. I feel like I'm letting my husband down. The money we're losing... and I gave notice about next year since we both felt like I just can't do this again. So, more money potentially lost if I don't land a gig quickly.
I know that I could have survived with full-time. I could have. I just don't want to be in survival mode.
Like I said, for the most part I'm excited and happy. It feels a little different at work now. Everybody knows or is finding out shortly. It makes me a little sad. I do like the people I work with. I have to move on though.
The industry I'm breaking into isn't booming at the moment and it can take connections sometimes, which will make things especially difficult. I can only hope and work hard.
My parents fly in today for my birthday this week. It's not a milestone, but 35 does feel like a special one for me. 30 was a huge deal after surviving the postpartum and breaking into a new decade that I didn't think I'd see. This is a halfway mark.
And a year of change to boot.
