Here's a rambling post without an end goal.
Truth is, I just got a new wireless keyboard and I want to try it out. Truth is, I'm a little burnt out on UX and school at the moment and don't have much to work on so I'm just typing here.
So how is the keyboard? Pretty good. It's got a nice clunky click-clack noise and came with a cover like the one on my laptop keyboard-which I appreciate. It has a slight incline to the keyboard and a ten key number pad on the right. So far, so good.
The hubs bought an old school keyboard a week or so ago (said if I liked it I could have it, but if not, he would take it-it wasn't my desired style at all, so he basically bought it for himself under my name?) and he likes it very much. Cool backlighting but I don't need the clacky, chunky keys. I prefer this flatter style.
Let's see. What else to type about?
My UX bootcamp is down to three more weeks and apparently the focus of these last few weeks is review and portfolios. I'm not super pleased with the last project, but one of the instructors recommended we tweak it for our own portfolios as desired. The first project I feel better about, but might tweak as well. I'm not sure. I also have other ideas for further projects to add when I get them done, which might be sooner than I think considering that I'm starting part-time teaching.
I'm still a little shocked that that is happening. I waited over a month and started to lose hope of finding someone after two candidates declined. Then the perfect one comes along and she starts within a week of applying. It was super fast and a little crazy for me and the students.
My first week part-time didn't feel much like it considering I had my folks here for my birthday and took a day off and taught on the Monday with the new teacher as an overlap day and to said farewell and introduce her to the classes. I also went in on Friday for an afternoon because of the Treat 'n Meet that I run for the department. Stuck around for a grade level meeting. Anyways, this week feels odd too because it's President's Day and the boys are both off. So next week will be my first-nope. That's conferences. Ugh. March will be my first true part-time week.
I taught part-time when I first started down here and while I've never liked teaching much, I think I didn't mind the part-time. Of course, that was Covid and we had set A and B-days instead of the alternating like we have (the "normal" style) this year. It will take me a bit to adjust, I know. I'm sad to leave my tribe, but excited to have more time to devote to UX pursuits. I plan on starting up my Google Cert again and working on those passion projects.
I could type more about family, but I don't feel like it. I had a blog full of family shit before-and I mean shit-and I am not sure I want to fill this up with more. It's an old story. One that just replays for me; so I'll refrain.
This seems like a good test of the keyboard anyway, so I will wrap up. I'm not sure if I prefer typing with. my wrists elevated or resting on the desk.... I wonder if there is something beneficial to floating hands or resting hands? Off to the Googles...
