Graduation

Tonight is my last Thursday class for my UX class. Saturday we have more of a get-together to celebrate graduation. I have to remember to bring dessert!

It's been great. I'm sad to see the class go and want to learn more, but I think I'll be doing so on my own instead of a classroom format. I'm glad I went in-person and I feel like I learned what I needed to learn. Now, it's about experience (and more learning).

The instructors have emphasized that getting a job might be more about making connections and networking than simple numbers game with resumes. I'm worried about that. I'm a social person, but networking is different and I feel odd about trying to make connections online... there are meet ups so maybe I'll do that. Anyway, it's a little nerve-inducing.

I've already given my notice and gone part-time at work, so getting my first UX gig is a MUST this summer. I'm nervous to start applying while the school year is still in session, but it's more likely I won't land a job and have to quit early... more likely I'm playing resume dump for months.

Anyways. I'm excited to graduate and nervous at the same time. I expected the class to be more difficult and could maybe have learned more, but they say I'm good to go as a Jr. UX designer, so I'm going to run with that and take it from here.

And we get kolaches on Saturday, so... yeah. Graduation, here I come.
